Since Elaine came to NGS in 2012, she has served as an instructional design manager, education grants director, and now Regional Director for nine Midwest states. Elaine has been involved, among other things, in co-developing and "nurturing" the National Geographic Learning Framework, developing and launching the first four NGS micro-credentials, and co-authoring two chapters for NCSS bulletins related to teaching with the C3 Framework. Before coming to NGS, she conducted education outreach and training for the Center on Congress at Indiana University and managed the Center's Teaching with Primary Sources program. For nearly 10 years, she worked for the Agency for Instructional Technology, overseeing education product development and outreach. In addition, she worked for 7+ years in public broadcasting, directing the provision of services to schools in a statewide market and overseeing programming and production of instructional media. Her work has included classroom teaching, professional development, preparation of digital content for online delivery, writing, and research. Elaine has a master’s degree in education administration/adult and higher education and a bachelor’s degree in English education and history.
